Ho Chi Minh City Guide
Ho Chi Minh, for many especially known as the Saigon. Although it is the largest city of Vietnam, it is not the capital. This honor bears Hanoi. The two cities are very different. Hanoi in the North is a lot smaller and mainly consists of old, narrow streets. Ho Chi Minh is modern and consists of tall buildings, Sky bars, large shopping malls, wide streets and lots of great places.

Where should you stay in Ho Chi Minh
Ho Chi Minh is a pretty busy city. We like it, but we can imagine that some people would rather not stay here for days. Luckily in Ho Chi Minh you have enough places to enjoy the tranquility, such as the Villa Song Saigon boutique hotel.

Restaurant Villa Song Saigon
The restaurant at Villa Sons Saigon is also highly recommended. Bistro Song Vie offers beautiful places on the Saigon River. The menu is very diverse and the dishes are delicious. Breakfast is a la cart and you can order it all day. Very nice for the sleeping heads among us.
Backpackers district Saigon
If you are traveling on a budget, discrit 1 is the best place in Ho Chi Minh City to be. In the street Pham Ngu Lao you will always find a place to store your backpack, but also nice bars, restaurants and basically everything you need during your trip. You will find the most tourists in this area.
Ho Chi Minh – What to do
Cu Chi Tunnels
If you are in Ho Chi Minh, a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels should not be missed. The tunnel complex of Củ Chi is an immense network of underground tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City. These tunnels are part of an even larger tunnel network that runs through almost the entire country. The tunnels were the location of various military campaigns during the Vietnam War.
There are two places where you can see the tunnels, namely Ben Duoc and Ben Dinh. Both places are very easy to reach by public transport. If you prefer an organized trip, go to Ben Dinh. This too seems to be very impressive, but we doubted the authenticity of these tunnels. There are many stories that the tunnels have been constructed specifically for tourists, so these are not the original tunnels. In addition, it seems to be very busy.
A little further you will find Ben Duoc. Although they have often adapted the entrances here, these are still the original tunnels. It is much quieter here and there is almost no tourist in sight. With the bus you are there within 2 hours and it costs you less than a euro. (At the Ben Thanh bus station you take bus 13. After 45 minutes you will arrive at a large bus stop. From here you take bus 88 and after almost an hour you can get off at the gate of the park.)
We found the tunnels very impressive. The narrow, small tunnels that you almost have to go through on your hands and feet lead you to different rooms. Don’t be afraid, because I was in the company of a man of almost 2 meters, who came out completely (muscle pain the next day). In the area you also have a shooting range and various temples. With the travels and the tunnels you have lost almost a full day.
Ben Thanh market
Ben Thanh is a market where we have been quick, but we were out of it quite quickly. We don’t really like shopping that much, so we have no idea why we ended up here. If you like shopping and bargains, this is the perfect place for you. We prefer to go for an extra hour on a terrace with a cold beer.
War Remnants Museum
We really wanted to go here and we were so close. The first day we arrived in Ho Chi Minh in the afternoon. After a short lunch, this was the first place that we wanted to visit. Quickly, soon after the city and then we arrived just too late at the museum. The museum closes every day at five o’clock. Unfortunately we only had two days in the city and we decided to go after the tunnels the next day. We found this very unfortunate, because although we did get something from the war during our visit to Ben Douc, we would have liked to learn more about the Vietnam war.
Ho Chi Minh Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral
If you like buildings, you should visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral and the old post office of Ho Chi Minh.
